new boater needs advice

i just purcahsed a Lowe L1440m rover. 14' jon boat without a motor. I wish to use this boat for duck hunting on the sloughs. can anyone reccomend an outboard motor ? i was kinda thinking a 5 hp trolling motor because i may not have a launching place and will often have to drag boat up and down a bank.

You might consider an electric trolling motor because they are light, even with the battery and they are absolutely quiet, a must when I go out duck hunting. In fact, I've even moved my jon boat into range of resting ducks without their being even slightly concerned. Of course they're in the air before I uncover, but the effect is really different, kinda like stalking them a little! The 50 pound trollers will push your 14 footer quite well and the combined weight of a battery and the troller aren't all that bad.
