Excuse me if my typing skills are slightly amiss but as a friend once told me: "I'm in the first stages of compsumption" That means the alcohol in my blood stream at the time I type this is confusing my manual dexterity.<br /><br />That being stated,I had to purchase a new cell phone today. The old one went KAPUT and wouldn't display any info on the display screen.Only 4 years old. The sales kid acted like I discovered an ancient fossil from the primordial era when I showed him my "4" year old dead phone.<br /><br />I explained to the sales person that I needed a phone only to make a phone call. I didn't want to take upskirt pictures of the girls in the Mall.<br />I don't need to instant text,check e-mail,see what the weather is in my neighborhod,etc. I just needed a phone to call from point A to B.<br /><br />Ok. I purchased a no frills phone. 124 pages of instructions in the pamphlet with the phone. My question #1 to my myself in the truck,"OK ,How do I turn this thing off."<br /><br />I'm pushing buttons, investigating what's different between this 2006 model and my deceased 2002 model.<br /><br />Therefor, I now announce that I cannot post to I-Boats for at least two more weeks while I figure out how to make a simple %^*@@$% phone phone call on this new phone. :mad: :mad: :mad: <br />This text has taken me 30 minutes to type.I must be in the 3rd stage of consumption now. :) :)

After you figure it out it will be about like the old one, Youll still have to do it to show her how.

Consider yourself lucky...my new phone came with a 314 page manual. :eek: I have insurance on my phone so when it breaks I get a new one just like the old one. I tend to throw them at things/people from time to time. :D

Re: New cell Phone::: ARRRRGH

Why can't they just make a cell phone that is just a blxxdy phone. you know' like the one in the house....pick it up, dial a number, speak,hang up. Personally, I reckon they would be a big seller.<br />I can't even turn our new one on, especially without the reading glasses. As for the instructions, forget it.<br />Remember VCR's. I couldn't even read the printing on the buttons. My mate down the road is a retired long haul Jumbo Capt with 38yrs in the air. He reckons navigating from Brussels to LA is easier than programing a VCR.<br />I get fed up with having uselss technology being forced on me, when all I want to do is make a darned phone call.<br />Cheers<br />phillip

Find a 10 year old, they'll show you everything you need to know about that phone. :D

Interesting coincidence, T2F.<br /><br />My 7 year old cell (that I used about three times a month) croaked. I went in to get a new one yesterday.<br /><br />I share all of your frustrations. :(

Re: New cell Phone::: ARRRRGH

wouldn't it make you guys tick off if I tell you my phone is a phone/computer/camera/video camera/mp3 player and about the size of a really thin pack of cigarette? All the info on the old SIM card got transfered to the new SIM card in a few seconds. :D

For anyone out there... Let the carrier do a data transfer... assuming you are dealing with them instead of an agent like Radio Shack. Here, Sprint will do it for free. <br /><br />I got a new Nokia about 14 months ago. Replaced a Qualcom that I had since 1999. Talk about a fossil! I figured it out after a while. But the dang thing is so small, I keep dropping it. It keeps falling out of my shirt or coat pocket. It's so small and light I forget about it until it's too late.

Just remember to check your first bill with the new phone. I upgraded my wifes phone, they put roadside assistance, internet access and video capability on my bill. It added up to almost $20 extra a month and I did not ask for any of it. Not to mention, the phone has no video ability. :mad: Cingular agreed to 'fix' my problem.

Cingular is the worst carrier I have ever gone through, total, total morons. Currently using T-Mobile and they seem to know what they are doing.

You'll soon find out that T-Mobile coverage area is a lots lots smaller then Cingular. I don't know about where you are but here, T-Mobile users are complaining about lost signal all the time. My Cingular phone gets signal on lakes in the middle of nowhere.

Re: New cell Phone::: ARRRRGH

lets see, I would like a phone with BIG buttons (I have big fingers) and BIG text! I don't need all the BS they put into these things. I just got a new Sony Erickson z520, lots of things I will never use that just get in the way. It is better than the phone I had before at least I can use it!!

Re: New cell Phone::: ARRRRGH

I was with ATT, but Cingular bought them out. Around here, there coverage area is better. <br /><br />My company cell is Verizon, there service area seems to be pretty large also. Not as large as Cingular though.
