Good friend of mine just pulled up with a 15 horse. We have no idea what year. It started up ok with the starter fluid the PO sprayed in it just before my buddy bought it. but the gas in the tank was from last year, i insistted my buddy ditch the gas and start with fresh. Problem is we dont know the mix. model Number vwb 52119d.

we think there may be a prob with the fuel pump so if you can help that would be great, thanks

50:1 mix, if you don't know the history of the engine I would just go ahead and change the fuel pump diaphragm as a matter or maintenance. (along with the impellar on the water pump too.) New fuel lines can't hurt either. Good luck...

Re: "New" chrysler motor

thanks husker,
We mixed some new gas, and still couldnt keep it runnnin, it starts up good with starter fluid so i think its gonna be a good motor. I can beleive how clean it is, i dont think it was ran much at all. Still working on the fuel pump. I wanna check/replace water pump while we are at it. Is there any advise on removing the lower unit on this model? might be a funny question but i screwed my-self once dropping the lower on a 9.9 rude that has a infamous problem with the water tube pulling out of the powerhead and not the lower unit like it should.......Something i could have avoided with little good advise.
