New fuel pump inlet threads

I ordered a new fuel pump for the AQ131A in my boat as the old one would draw fuel when cold, but didn't seem to want to pull a vacuum once it warmed up. The new pump was the correct Sierra part number, but when it arrived I quickly realized that the barbed nipple that was threaded into the old pump's inlet would not thread into the new pump's inlet. It seemed like the threads were not the same pitch as the old one. I took the new pump to several parts houses in town trying to find something that would thread into the inlet, but no one could find anything that would fit. I inspected the threads and while they look deeper in, the outside last few threads look suspect.

I'm assuming that the new pump should have the same pitch threads as the old one, but maybe I'm wrong? Anyone know for sure? The place where I bought the pump had nothing to offer me other than an RMA.

Thanks
