Hello Guys, I have had a Starcraft 14' V Hull for a couple years now and finally want to gut it and make it my own. The hull is in good shape but everything else had to be taken out.

Now I'm down to just the aluminum. What I'm wanting is a basic frame and floor. Nothing fancy but something I can fish and cruise around in.

Does anyone have pictures of a floor build? Or plans?

Again it's a 14' V Hull with the ribbed bottom. Thanks fellas

Without some pics, it's hard to throw ideas your way. There are pics of floor re-dos all over the Starcraft forum. Plans - Nah, we're guys and instructions are the last resort. :D

Welcome to iboats Six,

First off we need to know about your 14'r and if your model was originally equipped with bench seats. You'll probably want to pay some attention to the transom wood and address any leaks.

I tried the 'upload attachments' option but the file is too large. I was hoping to see the photo icon after my 3rd post but I don't see it. I'm on an iPad

Pics did show up. dont use pressure treated wood for a start. and Im sure someone will be able to show you a few ideas along the way. 3/4 inch BC or AC ply wood riveted or screwed the the outside end of the ribs sealed with spar or epoxy is what most of us do. But our larger ones have braces down the center hull. So I dont know if yours would bow or not in the middle with out them? Maybe seal a 2x4/2x6 to run the center to help out? Just throwing thoughts out there.

I do see the pics. How about a few showing the inside of the hull. Especially where the ribs meet the side. You might be able to add a flat floor like many other SCs and maybe not.

Six,

You're best off not trying to put the decking up to the ends of the ribs on this model. The ribs are way too high and it will become unstable. The ply that's in there now is just about the right height. You could attach the ply to the ribs with large flange rivets and be able to add some foam under the decking too but you'll need to leave the bench seats for the structure that strengthens the boats hull. From what I can see the bench seats are only boards and the boat doesn't have any flotation foam as it is right now. Or at least I can't see any foam in the pics.

There is no foam. There was but it was old and useless along with the floor and deck that I took out.
I wondered about decking up to those ribs - awful high.
I wish I would've paid more attention to the old floor etc before pulling it out.

If I don't end up getting a flat floor in it - couldn't I cut horizontal sections of something like horse stall mats and lay them in?

You stated it had a floor, I would try to match up to that as best as possible. Also make sure to add as much foam under it as possible.

Are there any signs that a center bench was removed. Benches provide structural support to the hull.

If there was a center bench, i would look to add some type of support in that area. Maybe a new bench, storage that ties the hull to the floor or some brackets that mount to the side and the floor.
