Well was getting a bit nervous hauling my camper around the country with a 13 year old truck. She was starting to enjoy being worked on a little too much. Plus the fact that she was a 2WD which worked great in FL not so great here.

pickeed up a replacement last night. Chev 3500 4X4. 6.0 eng gas, 4.10 rear endhauler.jpgSure is smooth compared to the old one. Still have my Jeep for driving to work and what not.

Re: New Hauler

Very nice! What kind of mileage can you expect with those 4:10s?

Re: New Hauler

Thanks guys. I have to admit I really like it. I love getting back to a regular cab to.

Talked to a guy near my house with the same set up, he said he was getting 16 hwy and 12 city. that's actually quite a bit better than my
V10 wit ha 4.30 rear did. that one was 11 hwy and 9-10 city.

Wonder if the MPG's will go down when you are trailer add ? The rig is really nice, just the cost of fuel that is stopping me from getting another big one.

Oh I would expect a hefty decrease in mileage with the trailer on, but still better then the dually it replaced. I hope.....LOL

Looks like a good choice, Avenger, but did it have to be a Chebby?

Many years ago I had the differential go out in my Chevy 3/4 ton. Needed the truck bad so I pulled the pumpkin out my 58 Chevy stake body which was around 5.78 or so. Drove it that way for a month until I had time to rebuild it and did not notice a big difference in mileage. I will admit I didn't take it on any long trips but it didn't seem to effect my local driving much.

first thing i did when i got my truck was piled the wife and rugrat in the truck and found my secret mud hole you couldnt even tell what colour the truck was when i was done with it.
it took a whole summer before the chunks of mud stopped falling off when i would wash it

obtw i have a 2008 gmc sierra slt with the 20" mag rims and its that fancy blue

ooh I do love that blue. If I couldn't get black that was my only other acceptable color choice.
