I need to get a new ignition switch as mine was obliterated by the previous owner, the only people I can find who stock one are in the US and refuse to ship to the UK where I am..

There are lots of similar ones for Mercury and OMC with six poles and push to choke like mine, would either of these work, or be able to be made to work? or is there a supplier I haven’t checked who does ship internationally..?

thanks in advance

Replacement switches are actually available here at iboats.com and they even have an international calling number. With that I believe they can ship overseas. Here's a link of the replacement switches. You will need to find out the size of the hole and the length (which is determined by the thickness of the panel it is installed on), i.e. long neck or short neck version for the switch. What you are looking for is a 3 position with push to choke switch with 6 terminals. When you decide to replace, make sure you take note and mark each wire connection on each terminal.

Franz Marine has 6 terminal keyswitch that fits.
He ships overseas and international, I have bought from him. He is really serviceminded.

You can use a Mercury six pole push-to-choke switch. HOWEVER: The only ones I have seen are stock equipment and are hard wired to the Mercury wiring. If tou get a used one, simply cut the wiring leaving an adequate pigtail to connect to.

Mercury wiring is differently colored but if you figure out which terminal does what function, it is still basically the same switch. You can use an ohm meter to check terminals as red is ALWAYS battery and two terminals will always have continuity between them at key off. These are the stop terminals which would correspond to "M" on the Chrysler/Force switch.

Good luck.

Thankyou so much for a great response, really helpful, Force engines are not at all common over here so parts are hard to come by, and I’m desperate to get my boat out before the weather turns bad..

I'll check on the forum here (i didn't even realise it had a shop section) and check out the other links.

Thanks for the kind offer jerryjerry05 I’ll check the other sites first to save putting you out but the offer is very much appreciated.

Ok had a look on the shop section and i think the two options are:

http://www.iboats.com/Sierra-Ignitio...-view_id.47122

and

http://www.iboats.com/3-Position-Pus...view_id.197316

the cheaper sierra seems to have the better reviews so unless anyone tells me other wise i'll probably go for that (if it's correct??)

I also need to buy a carb overhaul kit, does anyone know which one i need for a Force 85 3cyl with triple carbs (i don't know the year unfortunately i still need to get the S/N decoded somehow)

Thanks again for the help, it's great..

Either or will work for your motor. As for the carb kit, if you post a pic of the carb showing the stamped numbers, forum member will be able to tell the type and probably the year of your motor, if you include 3/4 view of the ignition system and also the exhaust plate side.

Before you buy any carb kit.
Take them apart and check the insides.
Most time a good cleaning will work.
I use Dawn soap and the purple cleaner from Wal-mart.
I'm sure any soap will work I just like them.
If the bowl has any corrosion then you might need a rebuild kit.
Most times the carb can be soaked in a carbon cleaner if the small passages are clogged.
Make sure the small holes in the jets are clear.

I haven't bought a kit in years.
The only thing I've replaced is the float bowl gasket.
Make sure the floats don't have liquid in them.
They are usually metal and can have small pin holes.
