Hello
I have a very interesting situation. My dad gave me a 7.5 HP Chrylser outboard motor still in its original box though the box was pretty well gone. This motor has NEVER been run. The model # is 72H9B and the serial # is 4282. The fuel line and owners manual were missing and my dad cannot find them. I have replaced the fuel line and included an inline fuel filter. I am somewaht mechanically inclined but not with two stroke boat motors. I want to run the motor and not damage it so I have some concerns.
1.) From what I can gather reading through the forums on older motors fuel/oil mix should be 50:1. Is this correct?
2.) Since the motor has sat for so long should the drive oil be changed?
3.) Are there any seals/gaskets which I should replace before running it for the same reasons as in #2?
4.) Should I replace the water pump before first running it for the same reason as #2?
5.) I purchased an item so I can attach a garden hose to the water intake. How much water and how hot should the water be coming out of the water ports when the motor is running?
I have lurked in this form for a while and was impressed with all the help people get when asking questions. I really appreciate any and all help I can get. Thanx.
