Ahhhhhh, New Jersey, I can smell it all the way over here in New York!

A great place to live, a lousy place to have to drive in!

Amen Kenny, Any highway east of State Route 31 is a nightmare. I have had my 35 mile drive take me 2 hours, on the interstates no less.

But then again I watch NY news in the morning and you guys don't have a cake-walk either.

I just thank God that my drive isn't to bad most of the time. But still trying to find a job closer to home. :)

Re: New Jersey

<<sarcasm on>>

"New Jersey... Gateway to New York"

Having been born in Englewood (by mistake), raised in Rockland Co., NY and relocated to outside of Philly (in PA) for the past two decades, I know something about NJ.

While you are right regarding NJ's natural beauty, its citizens are a different story. No flame intended, but NJ is a socialist state. It's gun control laws and its legislators are so unconstitutional, it's un-American. Auto insurance is the worst in the nation, and don't even get me going about purchasing beach tags to swim at beaches that were re-built with federal tax dollars by the US Army Corps of Engineers. Oh, and no fun on ANY beach: no ball playing, no frisbee, you want a bonfire? Pa-lease. Rental or purchase of any shore real estate is absurd... $6,000/week in OC beachfront is normal. I say, head to the Outer Banks, NC: twice the house for half the price. The only place I like in Jersey is Sussex Co., because the density is still low up there.

Again, nothing personal, but NJ is not my idea of utopia. PA isn't perfect either, but I could easily list as many accomplishments starting with the birth of the nation through the steel and railroads to the high tech industries today. Woopie. Get some reality back into your government. Visit the new Constitution Center in Philly. Learn what you're missing.

Lenny Dykstra, outfielder traded from NY Mets to Phila. Phillies years back, summed up my opinion when responding to a reporter asking if he was considering buying his new home in South Jersey: "You've got to be on f*&ckin' acid to live in NJ."

<<sarcasm off>>

;)

Re: New Jersey

RagHauler, You will get no arguement from me. We are a socialist state. I would move but the job keeps me here, too much time in to give up the Pension.

If you like Sussex cty you would like Warren County almost the same type of population. The Delaware Water gap is in Warren. Only 3 Large Population centers everything else is rural/suburban.

Absolutely, Warren County is a great place. I worked up there a few years ago in Belvidere. Sussex and Warren have some great native trout streams, not to mention nice people. Let's keep it a secret!

Re: New Jersey

Rag, Unfortunatly we are growing out here, All them New Yorkers wanting to get out of the city and into the country. The Township I live in has grown 300% in the last ten years, I am gald I bought when I did realestate prices are going through the roof. Even 2 bedroom condos which are supposedly "affordable housing" are selling for over $200K.

We recently took a home equity loan and had the house reappraised well we paid $140k for a 1911 Victorian in 2001 last year it was appraised at $230k roughly 18 months after we bought it, we did do about 10k in improvements though, our cost. (new electric, gas fireplace, ceiling fan in living room, stripped all the old paint off and stained and eurathaned the woodwork, along with painting and wallpaper. Took us about 11 months, and there is still a little that need to be done, minor trim, etc.) But I like it here except for the State BS with politics and taxes.
