Hi, my first post here. I am currently looking at buying a new 1700 Lund (Prosport or Fisherman) with 115 4S Merc. My last new boat purchase was in 1989 and sold it last year so my experience in boat buying is limited at best. I am assuming that I should be able to get a better deal in the fall at the end of a model year. Is there a rule of thumb on percentage off of MSRP to at least start on making an offer? I don't want to offend a dealer or embarrass myself on a ridiculous lowball offer or worse yet offer more than they sold for last spring. I don't know what the typical discount is at spring boat shows but I know that is a good time to buy. Does anyone remember any prices they have seen on similar packages? Don't name dealers, that isn't what I am trying to do here; I would just like an idea of where to start, this is a big purchase for me.

Thanks.

Normal rules don't apply now, alot of dealers have pretty good discount on current stock so I would stick my feet in now and see what is there.

I work for a pontoon company and we were offering pretty big discounts to move non-current boats so I wouldn't wait.
