Hi all, please dont cringe at the title of the post!, I have owned a few boats over the past twenty years, but after a break I have purchassed an H2-Zippa, for those that are not famililar with this creation there is a vid here of it in action, all be it a bit slow.... http://www.youtube.com/user/riadom#p/u/15/0mvR2Ra9oqU
Hopefully my picture of the rear of the boat will upload so I can start to ask my question.

The first picture is of the rear of the boat, the second is a close up hopefully showing a row of screws with some rubber underneath that appears to have broken/rotted away.
Down to the question.........what should be there, will it hurt being missing?
Open to both serious and silly answers.
Regards.

Ayuh,... Welcome Aboard,...

My WAGuess is, there mighta been trim tabs there...

Tabs would effectively make it a longer hull...

I agree with Bond-o. Looks like remnants of a previous trim tab set up. Some boat/motor combos need them, while others don't. I would leave them be unless they're causing a specific problem. If you decide to install tabs for yourself try to find some that have the same screw pattern, if at all possible. What does the rest of the boat look like? We love pics ;)

If there is a corresponding set of screws on the other side, it is almost certainly the remnants of a trim tab. If, not, I have no idea.

Not the best of pics.
I thought they were trim tabs, but seem to be just rubber under the screws, no hard material.

Mud flaps!:D Seriously, they are for sure an aftermarket part added to the boat. Like others have said, trim tabs of some sort, but man that boat sure doesn't look like it needs them, but you never know. I'd just leave them be.

See you on the lake

Re: New member with questions!

Thanks for the replies, I to thought they were trim tabs of some sort, just never seen any like it before, well I hav'nt actually seen them, just the remains!
Having only it had it a short time I am very pleased with the performance, just feel it could maybe do with a prop change, as it is quite slow getting on the plane, once on the plane...its fast!
I have also tried towing toys with it, it will tow a kneeboard no problem, but will not tow a ringo, this I feel is down to the prop.

I personaly, would remove them, and see if water drips out of any of the holes. If water does drip out, you have water inside. If not, then I would repair the holes, or re-seal the screws, and just screw the button head screws back in, but remove the rubber piece.

Re: New member with questions!

I have inspected thye remains closer today, it appears to be some sort of self adhesive foam type rubber, definately not rubber as in a car mat. Cant see how this would make a trim tab as it does not appear strong enough, or maybe that is why they are broke off.
