New Project. 15 ft Glastron

Here is my new project. Its a 72 Glastron 15' Tri Hull. Right now I am just using my 8hp Johnson so I can fish out of it. I am looking on craigslist for a 30-60 hp replacement but haven't had any luck yet. Also Has anyone here made their own windshield out of Plexiglas? I really doubt I will be able to find one for this boat. I took it out this morning and was surprised how easy it was to launch and put back on the trailer. I used to own a 12' aluminum boat and believe it or not since the trailer wasn't made for that boat this one is easier to launch and retrieve. Over all I am happy. I bought this boat for 300 with the trailer. Here are a couple of pictures.

sure you can do a windshield out of plexi, or lexan. several project is restoration forum. nice find.

I haven't had a chance to pull up the carpet and check the flooring yet. Also when you are checking the transom for rot what is the easiest method? You cant see any of the wood its all covered by fiberglass. Also How would I go about making a windshield. I see how to bend plexi but what about attaching it to the boat? Does anyone have pictures of a windshield they have made and attached to the boat?

search core sample....you are looking for the drill bit type...

that will get you started........for all the other guys......

thats a glastron t 156 hull....the same as johns....the exact same.....the manufacturer just put a closed bow cap on it and made it a totally different boat.....see how they swap things up for different purposes?

Hay pkrainert next pics you take a few pics of your rub rail !!

when i did my transom I didnt pull the hull all the way off , I just lifted the back half of the cap up and proped it up that was plenty of room for me to get the transom and the stringers all out !!

so get a core sample and we will go from there , take a few core samples like in all 4 courners of the transom and what you can get to on the stringers !! is there any soft spots in the floor ???

I think you will really like yours pkrainert, I love mine !! where are you going to be useing her ???

Hay I was just thinking , you sure there the same ooops , he says that his is only rated for a 60 hp , where mine is rated for a 100hp ???? John

I haven't found a soft spot in the floor. As soon as I have the time I will be getting those samples! LOL! I have seen a lot of other Glastrons that look very similar just open bow like yours around here. I am going to be fishing in the Napa river here in California. And also taking it up to a few lakes around here when I get the chance. When I was buying the boat I tried to pry the carpet up to check the deck out but its pretty secure lol. We are expecting our baby in a week or less so I wont be on this for a while haha. Anyways thanks for the help. I hope I can find a motor for it sometime soonish lol.
