I put a new prop on last season and never noticed this but now that I have the boat out of storage I see the following cracks on the transom on the outer fiberglass.

My question, is this cosmetic or structural. The boat is a 88 Bayliner Bass Trophy with a Force 125.

My initial vote is cosmetic, that's on the inner skin which in most cases is not attached directly to the transom. I would take a real close look at the transom on the inside for soft spots

Cosmetic cracks are usually only on the surface. Yours look to be deep. Based only on the pics, my vote is that the transom is shot.

In any event, I doubt it had anything to do with the new prop.

One ye one ney...lol

The old prop had no life left in it. I could reshape the blades with a couple of fingers. It took forever to plane. The new prop is very punchy and pops the boat into a plane almost instantly. My guess is it more torquey (if thats a word) and might have compromised the old transom. There was some dampness a few years ago but I repaired the source. Hopefully it didnt cause too much damage inside.
