Re: New prop for tubing/skiing?

I ordered a Michigan Wheel Vortex prop, 4-bladed with 20" pitch. Looking forward to giving it a try!

Just got back from two weeks at the cabin where we used the boat almost daily for tubing, skiing and wakeboarding. The new prop makes a huge difference in holeshot. I still have a carburetion/backfiring problem, but when the engine catches, the boat really jumps. I lost a few MPH off the top end, but RPMs at WOT are right in the upper middle of the recommended range for my engine. (I really don't have much need/desire to go 50+MPH anyway, so losing some top end speed is not a bad trade-off.)

An added benefit is a slight but noticeable improvement in slow-speed handling; I seem to have less wandering when at idle speed.

Count me among the beneficiaries of the good advice and helpful feedback of this forum! Thanks, all!

If skier wants top skiing adrenaline you should go skiing with empty boat, that's with just driver and a back spotter, select a prop that achieves at least middle wot parameters to have good hole shot and overall fun.

Happy Boating
