Hello all. I have been reading thru the topics for 2 days now. This is a great forum. I few weeks ago I bought a 1999 18' Bayliner Capri with 1999 120hp Force. The first time I took it out, it ran 41 mph (GPS) very smooth and at about 5000-5200 rpms. Our 2nd outing we hit something and broke our prop. I took the broken prop to my local dealer and he ordered another one just like it. It looks the same and it is the same size pitch (19). However, I didn't pay much attention to the diameter of the old prop but I think it was 1/8" or 1/4" bigger than my new one. New Prop Size is 13" diameter 19" pitch. Aluminum 3 blade.

Problem: Now I am unable to get above 34 mph. At this speed, my rpms are 5200 and the overheat buzzer goes off. I really have to watch my rpms now because once I get to 4000 rpms, pushing the throttle the rest of the way it almost immediately goes over 5200. I have to gradually climb from 4000 to 5000.

Question: Do I need to get a little bit larger diameter prop? I use the boat for skiing and tubing. I really liked the performance and speed I had before.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
