Steve, have the Crownline professionally checked out. Go for a water test in each boat if your uncertain.
Having had both Alpha & BIII, there is no comparison. Performance & ability to plane goes to the BIII every time.

You really cant compare these two boats. It's like comparing apples to oranges.
Crownline makes real nice boats and are my preference. Usually on consignment and especially in todays market you can get the owner to replace the bellows and impellor along with any other issues you have subject to the sale.

FWIW I just ran NADA on the Crownline and with a galvanized trailer it books out at around 25 retail. That seems a tad high to me but I do not know your local market. In Seattle it could probably fetch 25K right now, but boats are traditionally more expensive here for some reason.
