I am thinking about replacing the lounge and jump seats in my 40 year old Delta Boats 17 ft v-hull runabout I/0. I have only begun shopping online for replacements. Does anyhone have any recomendations or advice on what I should buy and/or installation? Thanks!

Go to veada.com and look there. Great price and lots of options. Man that water is beautiful in that picture!

agree with above... you can customize to whatever color you like... and they are sorta like Jack in the Box , dont make it till you order it.

Thanks for the pointers to Veada...a little pricey but will consider them for sure.

Thanks, but this not a job I want to tackle.

Thanks. That pic was taken on the east shore of Lake Tahoe a few years back. I used to live in Meyers, CA so I did a little boating on Tahoe when the winds were not a factor (or at least did not think they would be; it's no fun on Tahoe in a 17' boat in 3-4 swells!). Now I live in Sacramento and boat almost exclusively in the SAC River delta.

Took a close look at the existing seats today...looks like I'll be needing custom built bases due to the way they need to match the shape of the hull interior.

Rear jump seat removed and leaning forward so you're looking at the back of it. Note the angle of the bottom of the base.

I'll be getting an estimate from a local upholstery shop next week...won't be cheap.

you can buy just the top lounge seats without a base and make your own. Just use the old bases for templates and with one sheet of ply and some paint, you could have the bases whipped out for cheap. Then just buy the lounge seats without the base and mount them up. Wise sells them without the bases i think and most wise products are pretty easy on the wallet

That's a good idea however I don't have the means to make my own bases. I'm not sure that the place I will be getting an estimate from will want to quote on just making the bases, but no harm in my asking.

I wish I was closer. I would do those seats for you. Those are really a "No Brainer" easy set of seats to do. Woodworking and Upholstery. I'll be very interested in finding out the Quote you get. If it's HIGH I'm gunna have to really think about hanging my shingle and getting into the business. Some of these jobs are just a little bit outlandish as far as I'm concerned. I KNOW everybody has to make a profit but... How much is ENOUGH???

Thanks. I am expecting something in the range of $500-600 per lounge seat. Will let you know for sure when I get the quote.

Re: New seats for 17 ft runabout

Here is the quote I was given:

MARINE VINYL FOR BACK TO BACK SEATS & PADDING NEEDED $119.99
RE/DO BACK TO BACK SEATS $350.00
RE/DO BTTM. BASES FOR BACK TO BACK SEATS $185.00
MARINE VINYL FOR REAR JUMP SEATS & PADDING $89.99
RE/COVER REAR JUMP SEATS COMPLETE $230.00

So, if my addition is correct, that's $975 total for 2 custom lounge seats and 2 custom jump seats.

lol....well woodie?

actually....that is about right for 2 b2b;s installed.

but just making then is not good enough......they will need to be glassed in....(if they are screwed in they will come loose after a while.)

by the way.....if you did this job your self....it would cost you about 200....and that includes buying the tools you need to do it.

it would take about 8 hours. two evenings

With all respect, the 40 year old seats that are in there now are screwed down and they have been fine. I did replace and re-position some of the screws about 10 years ago, but other than that all has been well.

I can only dream that I could do this job myself. :)

well......you can.

that is why this forum exists.....

you would never expect that someone with little experience could cut a boat in half.......then make it 5 feet longer .....
then build every bracket, windsheild, every piece.....all by his lonesome.

it can be done......easily....

we can walk you right thru it.
