Re: New Starcraft

Jas, are you saying you'd actually rivet on a patch? EDIT: OK, now i see your latest post. you sure pop rivets are OK, even filled n slathered with 5200, for bottom of hull?

Promach, at'sa nothing to worry about. Jas' plan is the better approach for permanent fix, but you could even 4200 a tempo patch over that and go boating this weekend if you have a good bilge pump or 2 and aren't going offshore. then wirebrush it off later and do a correct fix. not ideal, but you wouldn't be putting family and boat at risk, if you kept an eye on water ingress......esp on them shallow FL lakes

Re: New Starcraft

Looks like something hit from the inside since it's bowed out. Could something have stowed there that hit repetitively making the the divot? Just trying to think of a cause. A small plate like Jason did would fix that up.

lol!!! You Met Bubba?!?!?

I dont want an Exterior patch, so Im thinking of removing the Seat and making a casting deck, and a front mounted trolling motor and anchor box. Anyhow, being a MBO I'll have to take out the Lady Lisa 2..
As far as the patch goes, I thank you for the info. Ive done this style of fix before but I hate the Rivets showing. I do seem to have an endless supply of 5200 too:)

Re: New Starcraft

Here are pics of my simple Mods.

Engine Tilt controls for my CMC lift

View from Bow showing my "Live Well" cooler
Refinished Bow plate. I TIG welded the holes shut and realigned the light to center, and removed the cleat that was behind the light

showing the fuse panel. I cut a section out and fabricated an aluminum backer plate for the inside of the "seat". Also you can see the wire harness. alot of tape, shink tube, liquid tape, solder and beers went into this.
this shows my fish finder bracket.

transducer mounting

CMC lift and you can see the stern light mounter out of the way on the "star board" rod holder brackets.
I've redone the hubs, bearings, spindles and axles. Along with new tires and rims.
On my wiring harness I've Created quick connects for the batteries to be mounted on the floor between the middle and bow seats. One for the CMC lift and two for accessories.

Re: New Starcraft

Oh, When I refinished the bow plate i also redid the transom corner plates.
So Pick them apart, study the Pics and offer suggestions for other Mods I can Do. Like I said Before, I'm thinking of removing the front(bow) seat and making a casting deck. Id like input/ideas while incorporating a new live well.
Im sorry I was away(again) for so long, but I actually do miss the MOB:D

Nice work! Good to see you back at it.
Even NorthBeach and CBK (flying boat/cow pasture) still stop in once and a while....

Re: New Starcraft

thanks DJ and barato2 ! But seriously, I need some input on ideas. How would you do it if she was yours? Oh, BTW I'm waiting on Hull paint until next spring, when I'm ready to do both boats at the same time. The Falcon (Lady Lisa 2) hasnt been touched since last summer. She purrrrs like a kitten on the lake, but needs that paint.

Re: New Starcraft

that last pic is just too cool.

i like it all. but since you asked, what about trimming the seat slightly (reinf as needed) and putting the batteries underneath? space gets real tight real fast in a 12-14' boat.

now them is some "BEFORES". hard to believe you got those unloved piles of corrosion looking so good. :applause:

Re: New Starcraft

Hey thanks. Being a machinist has its perks. I just sandblasted them TIG weld and prim n paint.
Great idea about the Batteries. If I patch and TIG the cracks I will have to remove the bow seat, support. Or a part of it. Then I can re-use the foam under the seat for flotation. So I'm pretty sure on the casting deck idea.
