Show where any ACC allows 5' or even 10' separation at freeway speeds? My comments come from post 687, where are yours coming from?
If you actually have someone cut you off with 10 feet spacing at 60 mph it will definitely put on the brakes as would I even without cruise control on!

I drove from Pa. to New Orleans and back in my new toyota Cross a few weeks ago. All safeguards were turned off except adaptive cruise, and it was set on the second to last sensitive setting. If someone abruptly pulls in front of me , it brakes. If a car is exiting off a ramp, it also sometimes would brake excessively even though the car was clear. I can anticipate that now.
It appears that system maintains a 2-3-sec interval +/-. So the distance varies with speed.
Obviously, it's worse when passing through a city and the idiots that are trying to shave off 1 sec of their travel time cut in front to make that exit.

The ACC algorithm is designed to follow at a preset distance.

It does so by monitoring the distance to the target and accelerating or decelerating to maintain the distance.
Distance greater than X = acel
Distance less than X = decel

In the scenario of post 687, unless the passing vehicle decelerated after passing, the following vehicle would simply decelerate to allow the distance to increase.

If the vehicle in front is decelerating, the auto brake algorithm would engage looking at inputs noted above.

I was able to adjust the sensitivity of my Active Cruise Control radar. I changed it to "Late" which really made a difference. For example, this morning I was driving along and a big pickup pulling a work trailer pulled out in front of me, about 125 feet ahead on the right. He was moving fast. I kept the cruise on and my foot off the brake and let it work. My truck got closer while the guy turning came on out. He cleared my lane with room to spare and my ACC kept quiet. No slamming on the brakes or even flashing dash lights.

I'm learning to live with it.

Ever wonder how many places ...PUT IN... a delayed problem to have you come back ? Really
Sure, it could be done…we install a poison pill to “brick” the equipment of our overseas customers in a breach of contract situation

What you’re proposing, a random failure of a random component at a random time, would be nearly impossible to coordinate between suppliers and impossible to hide given today’s software debugging technologies.

The bigger question…why compromise your products, reputation and credibility as a manufacturer so a third party could make a couple of bucks?

I took my '22 Santa Cruz in for an oil change back in October. Ended up trading it in and leasing a '26 Santa Cruz which has a normal automatic transmission instead of the problematic dual clutch transmission in the '22.

And last week Hyundai discontinued the Santa Cruz entirely. The '27 will be the last year.

I might be looking at '66 Mustangs when my lease is up.:LOL:

Have had Heated Seats for 30 yrs, and actually HATE them. They and the Heated Steering Wheel come on when it 10C, that is Way Too Early. At -20C maybe, but not 10C. BTW, the Temp where they come on is Not Adjustable
The Ventilated Seats are a Different Matter. Those are Nice to have, especially with Leather Seats, Those are on full Blast at 10C and warmer

Isn’t a matter of a micro second to push a button to turn them off?

Wife's ride is a 2022 Audi Q5. The belt tensioner just started screaming. Supposed to last 60k miles or more, car has only 24k. Thank god for warranty

I think that these sealed bearing idler and tensioner pulleys are not as long lasting as used to be . If possible I usually lift the seal and put a bit more decent grease in there .....but its pointless if you damage the seal .🙂

On my Jeep, the temp at which they come on can be adjusted in the dash panel. Just realized it this fall when I found out I could remove the annoying centerline on the backup camera. Currently my seat scans steering wheel are set at 40 degrees F.

Wife's car is leather and they are hot in summer and cold in winter until the heaters warm them up. My Jeep has cloth seats and they are cool in the summer and the seat heaters warm them quickly in the winter, which my arthritis likes real well. Hand also let me the heated wheel as hands have arthritis as well.
