Could be the 98 models sticker won't include a year???
If the serial# starts OEand 6 numbers?? you can figure the year from there.

I will look for this on the engine itself. The tag posted above doesn't seem to have OE and 6 numbers. Pics of the engine and ignition system coming soon, when they upload.

Looks like a 1987 Force 125 based on the sticker - the 2nd to last digit is the year and the 1st 3 digits are the Model - I bet they just put a newer cowl on it or cowl stickers - the 125 and 120 have the same cowl, etc. crowley marine which services iboats here has a website with all the diagrams you will need just type is 1987 Force 125 to get diagrams of most sections. The diagrams zoom.

This is the water pump housing. Does this narrow down to certain years? Or does anyone know the replacement part I may need?

In the background you can see what's left of the impeller.

I will check it out, I believe I seen the links below.

I am just trying to figure out exactly what I have first before I really look at the diagrams, so I know what I'm looking for.

I noticed the tag says 125hp, but the cowl says 120, so I am still guessing and learning.

You guys know more than me and have helped a bunch already. Hopefully the new pics help identify.

1987 with the updated cover.
Need pics of the lower unit?
The pump housing, turn it over and see if it has a stainless insert in there?
Since the impeller is in pieces?? you need to remove the thermo housing and back flush the system.
The copper tube might have pieces of the impeller in there.
Might try a vacuum hooked to smaller hoses to suck the pieces out?

Impeller part#
F694065 if the stainless cup is there?
F523065-1 if not.

There is a slotted screw on the side of the lower unit.DO NOT REMOVE!!!
The drain plug is usually an allen head set screw.
It's really hard to reseal the allen screw.
Mine have seeped a tiny bit of water no matter how I try to seal them.

I have not messed with that screw. I can grab pics of the lower unit.

What is the thermo housing? I will look up how to back flush.

Water Pump flipped over. I don't think it has a cup. Will look at it again though.

It does have this flat plate that sits between the pump housing and the lower unit.

Just to verify, I have an 87 Force 125? Or 120?

Thank you for part numbers, I'll look for them in a bit.

Thank you for the information. Helps a lot!

you definitely need the F523065 impeller - you can get the siera version here on iboats - http://www.iboats.com/Water-Pump-Im...4495666--session_id.789182213--view_id.221794 i used that one last time and it's good.

You also need to clean up the housing insides with some sandpaper and wash the stainless plate top with something like a green scotch bright or similar. On the bottom of the plate should be a gasket I would order a new one of those too unless it's completely intact. http://www.iboats.com/GASKET/dm/cart_id.934495666--session_id.789182213--view_id.1625057

that motor is a 125 - they didn't make a 120 until 1990. Anyhow with the water pump impeller failed so bad you really need to check compression on this motor before you get too far as it might have burnt up the rings or worse.

That's the old style pump. No stainless insert.
If the wear plate has deep grooves cut into it??/ Replace.
Sent U a PM

Got the PM and replied, thank you.

SkiDad, thank you, I will check compression.

The gasket is shot so it will be replaced.

I have to check the plate, but I don't think there's a groove, but you can see it is a bit shiny.

I may as well replace that also but I'll see just how bad mine is. Is there a certain thickness it's supposed to be?

If you wear plate has deep grooves then it needs to be replaced??
The comp test needs all the plugs out to test right.
The results should be all within 5# of each other.
