Re: New to forum, getting another boat Thursday!
All went pretty well yesterday and I took delivery. The bad news was that we trailed her out on lake Mi and the conditions were poor. 3-4 footers but the boat handled it well. She easily planed out well with the trim tabs in the up position due to me being used to my boats opposite trim contols. DOH! Anyway, I put her on a bunch of times correctly and it was effortless. Unfortunately, the GPS was given to me by the PO but not mounted in the boat, so I couldn't measure speed but I'm sure we doing mid twenties at 3500rpm.
She has the Morse controllers which have separate controllers for the gear selector and throttles. I noticed that the throttle controllers were not in sync to each other meaning that one was about 3/4" further forward than the othernin the mid rpm range and when ar WOT, one engine topped out at 4500 and the other was at 4200rpm. I was bit concerned about until I found that it has all new cables for the throttles and gear selectors. I verified by checking the engines while turned off and could see the one carb was opened up more than the other in all but the just idle positions. I will adjust them to balance them out. It's pretty cool that she has the engine synchronize gauge.
That part that sucked was the trailer that came with had the post adjusted back too far. The trailer itself is decent but it's only a tandem axle. I have a nice prestige triple that will go under it, and this trailer will go under my old boat, but yesterday was towing hell. I towed almost six hours when it should have only taken about 3 1/2. I could only go max of 52 in most areas because it would wag beyond that because of the lack of tongue weight.
Now she's happily launched on Torch Lake in Northern Mi. This am, I'm going to take her out for a breakfast run with the handheld GPS and see where she cruises at.
