HI folks,

I just picked up an old pontoon with a 50HP mariner Serial # 6139227. From my research i think it is a 1982 US model (i'm in Canada). I am looking for place to look for a service manual. Would prefer an OEM manual.

i found this one but the serial #'s don't look right to me, Can Any experts help me decipher this: "Serial #'s D000750 and up" just seems way too far off from mine??

Code:

Also anyone know of some good online places in Canada (since our Canadian dollar is terrible)?

Thanks,

Your serial number has your engine to be a 1980 50 HP EL model number 7050520 that uses parts catalog part number 90-13287 that covers MERCURY/MARINER (45/50 H.P.) ENGINE COMPONENTS. Search the model number or parts catalog number online for a parts catalog.

Champion QL78V should be a surface gap so nothing should be needed there.

Please know that the service manual at boat info isn't/doesn't appear to be available for your engine model + from here on out due to feared legal reasons again, the hosts of iboats would prefer that boatinfo be mentioned less in every post/topic and not be directly linked anymore :(. Thanks to all in advance for understanding.

To find your manual, You'll need to search online and (EBay) merc part number 90-86135--5 as it covers the,
45 & 50 (4 Cylinder) 50 & 60 (3 Cylinder, 2 Carburetor)
AND 70 (3 Cylinder, 2 Carburetor)
(U) 4576237 and Above (A) 8042650 and Above (B) 9136250 and Above (C) 7088598 and Above
(U) 4571652 thru 6428681 (A) 8042350 thru 8074512 (B) 913582 thru 9392276 (C) 7087823 thru 7208333

Hope this helps, good luck.

Thanks So much Fun Times!! i was looking at the wrong year. explains why the serial numbers on the manuals i was looking at didn't make sense. Going to have to change my signature.....

Has anybody used the QL77JC4 instead of the QL78V's? http://www.hopekhardwareplus.com/Champion-L77JC4-QL77JC4-B9HS10-821M-Marine-4-Pack_p_864.html

i never had much luck with those surface gap spark plugs.

Just have to get the pontoon in the garage and wait for the service manual.
