I am seriously thinking of buying a different truck. My neighbor is selling his 1979 Ford 4x4. I am not sure what all is wrong with it. It looks like a little rust on one side. The engine won't start but listening to him try it sounds like the timing is way off. May be the timing chain.
This is almost the exact vehicle I have been looking for for years. I wish it had a standard instead of an automatic, but it would work.
He only wants $100 for it, so now it is up to convincing my wife to let me spend my money.

In 1979, I paid $10,000 for one  Sounds like a deal for a $100  Mine was a 351 and a 4-speed F150, quad shocks and posi front and rear. Should have bought an F250 with the 400

Does it come with any gas in the tank? A full tank is probably worth close to $100 by itself! :p

The gas + a few other things I found inside my '79 Chevy were worth about 1/4 of what I paid for the whole truck. :D

Hell, there's alot of scrappers around here who will pay ~$200 to tow away broken down vehicles.

More like what is hers is hers, what is mine is hers.
I don't mind, she is better with money and gets things paid. I tend to forget, and my math aint so good when it comes to money.

I did however get permission to buy it! Won't be able to get money to work on it for a while. The rule is I need to finish the addition onthe house first. Not a problem though, it needs done.

I had a 79 3/4 ton back in the day and have wanted another since then. Only had it stuck once, in a 16 foot snow drift. That truck would pull anything, good on gas, rode nice, just a great truck.

I am going to try to look at it this next week. I am starting to wonder if it is a 79 or not. I can see it in the garage but haven't walked close to it yet. Looks like it might have round headlights. That would mean an early 78 or older. But for the money I can get it running and double my money easy. It will take a few weeks to save the $100 but I will post a pic if I get it.
