I have a new (2004) Vmax 200 Oil Consumption Problem. I need about 1:20.

I read in some threads that the oil Pump must be adjusted after break in by the Yamaha service.

My Yamaha Service (in Croatia) just changed geal oil and checked the plugs?

The Engine has now about 45 hours and I dont know if this high oil Counsumtion is normal.

Also my max rpm is about 4.600 rpm ( on 23" and 21" propellers)

I dont trust the yama service here. They even did not get there (2002) Yamaha service Sotware to run.

What should be done at the first service? Can I also do it? It is also very difficult to get the service manuals here in Europe.

Does anyone had the same Problem?

Thanks for Your help!

Greetings from Vienna, Austria

Ralph

hello
the adjustment just needs to be checked. it should have been set at the PDI. I am assuming its a vx200. if its ox66 you need to clean the o2 sensor. use test wheel part#yb1626 to test that the motor is capeable of making power. with that wheel it should turn5300 to 5500. if it will its over proped if it wont its broke. the O2 sensor can fail and give the computer bad readings that will reduce the engines power as well as smoke a piston.
post back a model #.
good luck and keep posting

Hpdi stands for High Pressure Direct Injection.so its not a vmax. the vmaxwas ox66 EFI.the O2 sensor still needs to be cleaned at the 10 hour check and I reccomend every 75 hours thereafter. I dont know if the european models are any different from the USA models.when you talk of oil consumption how do you know you are using to much? this motor is really not for the novice or semi-skilled to work on.the service manual is printed for a trained tech and is not a lot of help for a novice. the marine tech book may have more information.you also may be able to get some information from the school at kennesaw GA through the yamaha consumer hotline. to monitor consumption keep a careful log of gallons of fuel used to gallons of oil.
good luck and keep posting
