Re: newbie here any glastron owners

Back to the blower. Always run the blower for 5 mins before starting and while idling. Very important. Other wise your boat may go BOOM! Also try to keep your revs down to 2000rpm or lower while in neutral, especially on cold starts. You'll love the Glastron. I loved my '03 185 SF 4.3 since it was new. Sold it last year though unfortunatley

Thanks another great tip. all this is really helping me out i appriciate it cop

I'm finding it weird to just jump in our new OB powered boat and fire up the motor. Old habits are hard to break!

xavi08, outboard powered boats don't have a blower since the motor is out in open and not in an enclosed compartment.

Blower Question from another Glastron owner.

If I have the Engine Hatch open do I need to run the Blower before Startup?

For example running the motor on the muffs.

If you just have the padded top swim lid open, I do.:D
But if you have it completely open, meaning doghouse is tilted forward like you are going to work on the engine......I don't. Probably should, just to keep it a habit.

Keep in mind also that the vapors are heavier than air and will settle to bottom of bilge/motor compartment area. Opening the sunpad likely does not let them escape. The blower pulls air from the lower part of bilge and exhausts it out the vent. The second vent is where fresh air is drawn in to force total volume turnover.

In a car/truck, the heavier vapors fall to open space because there is no bottom to the engine compartment. An opened bottom bilge might not float too well :)

Ok I will keep the habit of using the blower everytime before startup regardless if the engine hatch is open or close. Thanks.

He is asking what motor setup is in the boat. Open the hatch and see what it says on top of the engine, example. Mercruiser 3.0 , 4.3 , 5.0 .. Or volvo penta same number sizes. And there will be a couple letters after the number that will tell them alot about what you have.

It would be a good idea to read everything on this post.
