Hey all, I have been reading these posts for a few weeks since I started my restoration project. I was given an olde (1960s ??) 16' fiberglass fishing boat. I put in a new floor and now have to decide how to distribute the wieght (gas tank and battery). From what I understand, I should have everything as close to the center and as low as possible.
I have no compartments so the floor is as low as I can go. Do I build two boxes and place the battery on one side of the boat (halfway up) and the gas tank on the other? I was going to make the (vented) boxes seats, but I am not sure I want someone sitting on the gas tank! Would another option be putting the battery up front under the dash and the gas tank in the rear? I have a pretty heavy 28 horse Johnson engine for it. I would appreciate any and all suggestions. Thanks!
