Hey guys,,

i didn't realize so many people was taking old boats and making them look new!!! I 've seem some great work just from lurking around here.

Anyway I attained a 83 baretta/success xl150. I've had it out over the summer several times and it runs great and seems to have no leaks. I am wanting to restore it this winter. I am curious to how much it would be worth after I was done. The merc 4 cylinder is in great shape so that won't be touch. I will be redoing or replacing the chrome hardware on the exterior, new interior, painting the dash "cant stand the fake wood stuff", and hopefully painting the boat hull as the paint is faded and it also has some peeling half way down the hull, and finally the trailer will be painted.

Ball park figure what do you think it would be worth?

Thanks guys
Jimmy
Re: Newbie needs a little advice!!!

Wow Jimmy not many boats in KY Huh?!?! (Reg number KY-73) :) Just kidding around never saw a reg number so short.
This might help give an idea Nada Guide

With alittle cosmetic work that boat could look great. I agree with you about the fake wood :) . What is peeling on the boat ? Is it just the decals? Or is it gel coat cracking? Was it ever painted before?
How is it the floor (solid?)
I am not familiar with that boatbuilder (none of their boats up here) :) So cant help you there

lol actually there more to the number than ky 73. I don't think the boat has ever been painted but towards the back of the boat about mid way down the hull there are a bunch of small paint bubbles. As far has the cracks it just looks like small cracks in the Gel coat. Nothing major I don't think.

I am really looking forward to the project. I think it will be lots of fun and pretty rewarding and I am sure a few headaches along the way. lol

jimmy,

I do not believe you have very far to go to make that boat look great. As long as the floor is solid.

The chips you speak of are probably blisters. Check here for blister treatment: www.westmarine.com

As far as value. That's a hard one. "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder". What sells boats is: clean, clean, clean!
