Newbie here...
hi guys, my brother just bought a 1993 Bayliner Jazz 90hp inboard.

engine isnt getting any spark, so we are assuming that the ignition control module is bad...are there any fuses that we should check before purchasing a new one? is this common with this engine?

Neither of us have had our own boat, really only been on the water a few times, so anyone have any tips for us such as are we supposed to flush the engine after each use....anything would be great. thanks

Re: Newbie with ignition problems on Bayliner Jazz 90Hp

this needs to go to the outboard forum, as its an outboard powerhead on a jetpump
but
that's an expensive "guess" your thinking about buying, and i wouldn't.
Your going to need to buy a remote starter button, a digital multimeter, a DVA adaptor, and a sparkboard.
you can get the button and DMM at sears, (don't buy a craftsman meter)
and you can get the rest at stevensintruments.com
if you don't have bare minimum those tools your just going to be throwing money at this thing and probably replacing perfectly good parts along the way.

best bet... get a remote start button, disconnect the controll box and try it.

how is it an outboard? the engine is inside the hull. i thought that it is called an outboard when the whole engine is mounted outside of the boat.

we tested, and it does have power to the ignition module. part will be here soon.

I'm not sure but I think CaptJason meant to direct you to the inboard forum. Most people looking at this forum are familiar with outboard motors and yours is definitely an inboard. Try posting on inboard forum and I bet you'll get more feedback.
