NFL Overtime

I hate NFL overtime rules. Why not just get rid of actually playing the overtime period and just flip the coin to see which team wins.

What is the percentage of the team that gets the ball first and goes on to score thus win? The other team never gets a chance at offense.

In the pros, a field goal can be made from 50+ yards out. I just hate to see a game decided by some wimpy kicker coming out and deciding the outcome in overtime. This removes all the blood,guts, and "footballness" from the game.

College has a much better system.

I don't agree with a coin toss, T2F.

I think a team must score points to win. I would like OT better if each team got to start a series with the ball. That would even the odds, though I don't think I am sure that the team that gets the ball first "always" scores.

My plan, though, might lead to 6 or 7 hour games. The media probably wouldn't go for that, and the media rules.

I actually picked the Titans to win that game on my NFL pick'em team.

I just get frustrated to watch a great game and see one team kick a field goal and the other team never gets to touch the ball.

The college rule for overtime would work great in the NFL, I believe.

Hey, as a long-suffering Lions fan, I resemble that remark!

I agree, sudden death OT leaves too much to the coin toss. That's a good question, what percentage of teams who win the toss score first and win? I bet it's a pretty high percent. Like T2F says, it's too easy to win with a field goal. I'd like to see some variation on the college OT rules in the NFL.
