Re: No comments on Libby?

Sure rolmops,

Got some facts you can share? I didn't whitewash but since facts are in short supply and emotion is ruling the day on the hill, what is there to discuss? The inuendo's in the press??? Wilson at the press club? I trust OJ more than I trust him.

This is a non-thread if you want to discuss facts. And since I am asked to provide more footnotes, sources and links than required of a CBS anchorman (and then frequently ignored), I don't know what to say other than the strong statement I made. Hang him high if he lied.

rolmops
some of this goes back to the clinton admin.
even clinton had an attack saddam plan if things went to wrong politically.
clinton was convicted of perjery and walked away smiling and now has a libraray. he should have one but it should be in the big house for 10 years or so. this whole 9/11 thing cannot be laid and president Bush's feets.
while bubba did some really dumb things some of it he inherited.
buba does not have the intellect to to what he is doing. he has the best of intentions but has surrounded himself with persons that have their own agendas.
I really dont think bubba lied he just repeated what the people he trusted said to say.
most of it does not matter now.
what matters is staying the course aint working. bubba must go on TV and retract some things. and then he MUST figgue out a course change. the war is terrible, poor planning, not enough bodies on the ground, not enough armor or weapons but worse is jus the amount of monet we have spent to reconstrct the infastructure all the dead and wounded americans died and got wounded for.
dude a couple weeks ago while on the way home from atlanta I got stuck in ATL. was ok plenty of bars.
sat down in one and a bit later all of a sudden must have been 6 or 7 soldiers sitting about. after the usual jokes about why the USN was better than the US Army we settled back for some chat and some refreshments. all were heading back to iraq, one was on his 3rd Iraq deployment. all said the window was shut and the best they could hope for was to finnish alive. all to a man realizewd our inititive in 03 was lost, the iraqis had never ever seen IED's or random terror. the reconstruction effort that was so promised is not happining. there is less of all utilities now than the day we started.so far the administration has spent over 20 BILLION dollars on reconstruction and the output is still less than pre 03 levels. the average Iraqi was frendly to the US in 03 but are becoming more and more jaded as time goes by.
this was all from foot soldiers and flack stoppers on the ground with no cameras.
the bar tab, according to my amex bill. was a tad over 300 dollars
but we had a hell of a good time :) :)

Not that you will listen, but to simply contrast the inconsistancies demonstrated by those on the left.

Bill Clinton lied, but it's only about sex.
Libby (accused of lying) and it's a breach of national security.

Bill Clinton lied, and his administration works overtime coordinating testimony of Monica, and demonizing anyone and everone who stands against them.
Libby (accused of lying) resigns his post immediately. Re: No comments on Libby?

Pointer94,
Fulton Armstrong's name and his job title had been mentioned in 4 different articles dating back to '02. He was already outed. Not the same scenario as Valarie Plame.

We don't know what John Kerry's motivation was when he continued to use his name in the Bolton hearings. We can't assume he used his name malicously or for political gain. I don't even know what was to gained politically. I think Kerry probably got accustomed to his name after hearing from others and using it himself. Heck, I've been married 15 years and my brothers still call my wife by my ex-girlfriend's name. I have a brother that is "corrections officer" and knowing that is the title they like to go by, I still slip and refer to him as a "prison guard". I really pissed off a one of the moms in the neighborhood when I said "stewardess" instead of "flight attendant". And I should have known better.

We don't know what John Kerry's motivation was when he continued to use his name in the Bolton hearings.

Please, enough. We all know and the article points out that he was trying to point out that Bolton was a big mean guy and wanted to show it by pointing out, how, in a sealed records Bolton wanted to fire him. That was the Democrats drum beat against Bolton. He was warned not to use his name and he decided to go for the kill shot. Country be damned. Even Bolton was smart enough not to repeat the name. And he isn't a really smart war hero. Why didn't he, because he knew he was under cover, or there could be ramifications to using his name in a given context. To Kerry's chagrin, it didn't work. Politics Period. Outed or not, Armstrong was considered an agent and his name was NOT to be used. I don't give anyone including Lugar a pass for their stupidity or arrogance. BTW I can give you a reason to motivate Kerry not to use his name, HE WAS TOLD NOT TO........

Your logic gives Scooter a pass as well. All he has to say is he forgot. I don't see how he benefited politically. I think scooter probably got accustomed to her name after reading about it in the NY Times OPED authored by her husband, and around the White House. You can't have it both ways.

So now we have to go after the 4 news agencies that outed Fulton Armstrong's name and title before the Bolton hearings.

Re: No comments on Libby?

Not really pickin on yea jmonica, but Valarie wasn't outed or someone would have been idicted for it. She wasn't undercover or protected by law or policy.

Would you write an article full of lies, have it published in the NY Times, attacking something the president said that you supported in your poorly prepared report, and then go and have your photo's smeared on the cover Vainity Fair if your wife was a spy? And then blame the administration for responding? Set up!!!!

Re: No comments on Libby?

The law involving outing a CIA agent's identity is pretty specific. Because of the specificity for a burden of proof, the bar is pretty high.
The way the law is written you would almost have to prove what they were thinking. With the burden of proof being that high there was no reason to go after that charge when you have 5 other indictments.

What lies?

The photo was after she had already became a household name. And the fake energy company she worked for had to shut its operation down.

I fear that dirty hands is more often than not involved and hidden agendas the norm.
It scares me when they start handling little babys out on the campaign tour.
