Somehow I doubt that you can have 6 bad ignition coils ( 3 pairs ) , but them are your $$ you are spending.

It is best to take it to a shop for diagnosis.----That is if you can find a shop that will take it on.----Not really a motor you can work on at home

Unfortunately a shop is not a option for me the only shop that works on older motors here charges
$100 a hour 3 hour minimum I just can’t afford that
i would be $300 at least just to find out what’s wrong then another $300 to fix it at the least

What's the alternative to proper diagnosis ?

Waste money on parts which very probably you do not need? A complete set of coils will set you back best part of $200 but it is exceedingly unlikely that they have all failed ( There are two different types of coils fitted. One may be NLA)

When you have done that and its still does not work what next, You've spent $200 on coils that would have been better used to pay for diagnostic testing

EMM at nearly $3000 ?

there are some basic checks you can do for yourself ,,...... stop switch and wiring for example.

The CDI troubleshooting guide may be worth looking a. http://www.cdielectronics.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/CDI Troubleshooting Guide - 2012.pdf

I say you need to accept the fact that you need an older and simpler motor !!

Thank you for the advice racerone
i picked up some used coils off a running motor
for $40 the part numbers match
your right about a more simple motor however I just can’t afford it I got stuck with this project in no intention of buying a boat it was supposed to be a favor and backfired in my face so I am just trying to salvage what I can from this I will follow that link and try to do what I can before dumping this thing thank you all so much!

Yes lots of used coils around.----Even coils off an 8 HP motor can be used on this V-6 I believe

I got it started
it turned out to be a missing relay I can’t believe I didn’t notice it sooner I put in the relay and it fired right up with quick start now I’m gonna put in some gas
and hook it up to some rabbit ears and go from there
