I have a force 50hp that has been running fine until Sat. it died while running and I felt the gas bulb and there was no pressure on the bulb...I pumped it up and it ran fine for about 15-20 min and died again...I again found no gas in bulb and pumped it and ran for a while then died again...any idea what might be the cause...thanks for the info and help

Re: no gas in bulb

First, did the bulb go flat?

Second, the best way to figure out the fuel system is to start at the tank and go up to the carbs. It sounds like your problem might be at the fuel pump, maybe a cheap rebuild kit is in order.

I know on my 85 HP, the bulb would go flat in rough seas (lake) or intermittently after the tank dropped below 1/2. After investigating (ripping out the floor and pulling the tank), I discovered that leaves & an acorn were stopping the fuel intake, thus, killing the engine. From your side, I would imagine that it is on the other side of the bulb, as if there is not enough flow being pulled by the fuel pump. Could also be a vaulty valve on the bulb.

Good Luck.
