No gaskets on drain plugs?

Performed my first ever LU oil change today. ( I've had a lot of coaching). Oil came out green and debris free-- no metal on the magnet of drain plug. My only issue is that I did NOT see any gaskets. I am going to re-check my extracted fluid and then re-check the openings again, but is it possible that it ran WITHOUT gaskets in place? I have no idea when LU oil was changed last as I purchased boat in September from a man who was on a trip from UP to upstate NY via the Great Lakes. I will consult manual for this mercruiser 120 alpha drive.
Thank you .

It's very likely that the gasket is stuck to the Lower Unit. I did mine recently, and the gaskets were stuck to both the lower and upper screw holes. I used a pick to get the gaskets out. Get new ones for sure each time.

Ditto....and if you dont find any THAT does not mean that you dont need them .You need to use one each on the vent and drain.Charlie
