no high rpm

installed a used 115 etxd on a 21 w/a cuddy motor starts and runs ok. runs smooth up to about 2000-2200 rpm then when you try to excelerate it stumbles and will only turn 2900-3000 rpm. the motor sat for about five years but was pro fogged after last use. could this be high speed jets varnished or pluged. thanks for any input

I'd bet money that the carbs need a complete breakdown and rebuild. You can try this first and see what happens. Put carb cleaner in a container thet you can put the end of the fuel line in and use the bulb to do several flushes through the carbs. There should be a plug on the bottom that unscrews to drain them.Do not run your motor with this stuff in the carbs it may burn a hole in your pistons. Turn the jets all they way in until lightly seated and be sure to count the turns. Take them out and clean them and spray carb cleaner in the jets. After you get everything back together flush one time with gas and drain. Run motor and see if it is any better. My guess is that this probably won't work but it's worth a shot. Good luck.

thanks po waffles decided to just take them off to clean and check. spotless! will be looking at fuel pump next
