To test the no oil warning system, my OMC Service Manual states, "Carefully, cut the oil supply hose from the pump oil inlet fitting." My engine is an 1997 Evinrude 50hp.

Where is the inlet fitting they are talking about?

Re: No Oil Signal Test

On VRO, one side has fuel and oil inlets and the other side has a single outlet that goes to the carbs. If you pinch the oil line (restriction) you should get an alarm. If you disconnect the tube (no oil), you should get an alarm. Also, if your oil tank dips below 1/4 full, you should also get an alarm. I like to switch to a premixed fuel supply while testing, especially while troubleshootin'!
Good luck
