ok, here is my situation, I have a 1978 johnson 70 hp outboard. it ran real good till 4th of july. it started to have problems getting up and going. i put a timing light on it and found the middle cylinder wasnt firing and narroweed it down to the coil. i changed that out and it runs like its never run before so good, so responsive and just sounds great. before my test drive today i noticed black goo comming from the front side of the prop. i found that that was all the unburnt stuff from that cylinder coming out. but after it was in the water it just had no power when i tried to floor it. in neutral its awesome and if i tilt the motor out of the water and put it in gear its still awesome. but with the drive iin the water i put it in gear and floor it and it only goes to about half the rpms. i checked the butterflys and there opening all the way, checked the fuel filter and lines its getting fuel. it just doesnt have the tourque to push the boat. i hope it will be a cheap fix, anyone who can help please do, its nice outside and i wanna take it out!!!!!!!! thank you very much ROB
