no power

ihqave mid 70 30 horse chrysler 2 cylinder outboard. It will sit with muffs on or a water pail and scream, put the boat inthe water it only runs about 1/4 throttle, ive tried a few things to fix it but imat a loss anybody got an idea??

Check compression before doing anything else.

And make sure you have spark on both cylinders. They will seem to run fine with no load on them in a barrel or muffs, when they are really only running on one cylinder.. Don't rev it up past fast idle in neutral in the barrel. Not good for the engine.. As said, compression check is a must...
