no reverse

I changed control box shift and throttle cable pulled out drive fixed shift shaft leak now will not go into reverse. I have not started boat yet I am going out now to start and see if it will go into reverse while the motor is running. Is there and ajustment I should check I do have the manual but haven't seen anything in there to help me yet. It is a 86 4.3 omc cobra.

Thanks I am going to repull the outdrive now and change the transom shift cable that is the only one I have not changed. I did disconeck and can not budge it by hand at all. The throttle control is way smooth with out the transom cable hooked up so do you think that will be my only problem? I should be able to move by hand if disconnected right?
