Tops were slotted came out easy.
bottoms broke. Those are 1.25 in deep?
going to drill and tap just don'
Want to destroy the head.

That area, the heads pretty thick.
You should be able to re tap the holes easily.
I've seen the cover held on with 2 screws and sillycone.

Hey Jerry what grade hardware shoud I use for the t stat houseing?

also ran the engine on the stand. Pritty much burned threw 1 gal of gas in under 30min. Was at a fast idle still seems excessive to me. Anything I can check?

Those bolts aren't tuorqed too much and almost any stainless screw will work.
Don't use anti-seize but do use grease when reinstalling.
Don't use a slotted screw.

it sounds normal. I would burn that idling around and about 8-9 gallons per hour skiing at 4000-4500 rpm

Couldn't find the usage you mentioned?

My 88/85's 2.3 miles per gal.
In all the years I maybe ran my motors wide open 3-4 times.

Just make sure the props the right one and don't load the boat too much.
I wanted more speed and changed from a 17p to a 19p
I got 3 mph. and the fuel usage went up 15-20% more!!
Now usage will vary depending on the way it's used.
