I went to replace the spark plugs and noticed that #2 spark plug was clean like if it was'nt firing I check for spark and no spark was present all the others were ok. so i assumed the coil was bad so i replaced it but no spark. What could the problem be the cdi module or the trigger. or is there an easy way to test it.

What year is your motor?

Are the CD modules and coils blue? Prestolite Ignition?

Use the search button at the top of the page, type in trigger or stator. This may help you find some information on testing!

CDI Troubleshooting Guide is an excellent source of testing procedures.

Follow it faithfully. BEFORE buying any ignition parts.

well I ended up buying a new stator and trigger $400+ now the engine has no spark. the new stator has less wires so dose the trigger the instructions say there designed better. I removed the trigger and installed the old one leaving the new stator on still no spark i don't know what to do now i think i just lost 400 dollars.

could i have gotten a bad stator. I also noticed on the inside of the trigger it has 5 magnets one of them pops out farther than the others rubbing on the inside magnet. the stator seems to be rubbing slightly too will this cause them from creation voltage?

well i ended up puting the old stator on and leaving the new trigger on now it fires on all cylinders. that means that the stator is bad right now to try to get the company to give ma another one will be a diffrent story.

According to what your saying it sounds like the trigger was the problem.

It's possible to get a new part from time to time that is bad depending on what it is, so I guess it's possible that the stator could be bad!

I beleive you said that the new stator had less wiring, could it have been that you didn't get it wired right?

Check the company's return policy you may be able to get a refund for the stator if there policy allows returns, it's worth the time to check it out!

I'm not familar with the trigger magnets and how there positioned so I can't be of much help there! Good Luck!

So what's the latest? You have any luck with a refund or getting another stator? Did you figure out wether the trigger magnet is correct or incorrect?

Re: no spark from #2 coil

I contacted the company they say to ship it to them they will send it to the manufacturer to test it. If the part turns out to be ok i will get charged $30 + shipp and handle. it will take 1-2 weeks to process. but i have a problem with that I have an appointment to take my boat in to check if i installed it right in 3 weeks so i don't know if I'll have the part back by then. they only give you 15 days from purchase to ship it back. so now i have a big decision to make.
