How could I check for ignition problem? My motor is a 1981 Johnson 75 Seahorse and the last time out it just stopped. I have disconnected the plug to the controls and cut out and spun the engine by shorting a live feed to the selonoid but there is still no spark to any of the three plugs. Can anyone please suggest next step?

Re: no spark johnson

Locate the 2 brown wires from stator to pack, connect a meter between the 2 wires, mater on ac scale, results X 1.414. Voltage should be over 200 volts. Voltage OK check pack output to ignition coil, should be over 200 volts. The specs are from a Clymer manual, may not be same as OEM manual, but should make a good spark with these number.
