In a shady area, remove the spark plugs to obtain the highest cranking rpm possible. Cranking speed must be approximately 300 rpm in order for the stator to energize the powerpack.<br /><br />Rig up a spark tester whereas you can set a 7/16" gap. Crank the engine and observe the spark.<br /><br />If no spark, or a very weak spark, disconnect the electrical plug(s) at the engine, then crank the engine via a jumper at the starter solenoid. If you now have spark, inall probability the ignition switch is shorted, in which case replace it.<br /><br />Let us know what you find.
