GOOD NEWS. . . . The PICTURE UPLOAD FUNCTION IS WORKING !!! The tech folks at the parent company have been able to remedy the issue. You can upload pictures once again. Thank you for your patience.
Well I think I need to replace the distributor. I tried to gap it to .40 but I noticed the shaft has play in it. It is .40 on two of the point openings and almost twice as much on the other two high points... I assume this would cause a really unreliable spark.
the rotor is on and the cap is brand new. Yes I mean from the coil, I was on my phone in the middle of working on it so it came out wrong.I have a quick question, the purple wire that comes from the points/condenser does that lead to the + on the coil? Reason I ask is because I get a reading from the connector at the points when I am turning it over it varies but I am getting a signal. But when I unhook the purple + from the coil and test the wire it reads nothing.
Looking at the wiring diagram it looks like it goes to a coolant sensor then to the coil? But it looks like it goes to the - not the plus on the diagram but I am probably wrong.
Also there is another wire I see that is very corroded that goes into the intake manifold, it is orange, I am going to replace it but I want to make sure that is not something that would cause no spark.
I have 12.89 volts to the + on the coil with key on amd 10.89 when trying to start. 12.89 v to - with key on then between 4.5 and 10.02 when turning over ot flunctuates. 0.26 volts to the condensor with key on and wire pluged in, .46 when trying to start. No volts but .88 M ohms to 2.01 m ohms at condensor woith purple wire un plugged.
Ugh wow bramd new rotor is bad if you push down really hard on the contact my ohmmeter will beep but just barley. Can someone please give me the part number so I can go pick one up. My father in law was the one who bought it originally so I have no idea what the part number would be.
Ok i picked up a new rotor, now only cyl 2 has spark. It sounds like it wants to start now but I can only get cyl 2 to spark. Is it because of the play in the dist shaft?
Ok so this time my rotor broke... The tip snapped off, did i get the wrong part? Or is it because of the play in the shaft? There is minimal play its not super sloppy.
