No warning horn test beep when I turn key!

I've got a 2000, 125 hp CARBED Mercury on my Ranger. Bought it about a year ago. I just realized that I haven't ever heard a test beep when I turn the key on. I know Mercury has eliminated it on some of their recent models. Anybody know if mine is one of them? Cause it doesn't work.

ODD1, are you out there? ;) Somebody let me know before I take it in to repair it.

That engine doesn't have a warning module, therefore no beep on key up. If you want to test the horn, disconnect the temp sender and connect it to ground and listen for the horn.

Good luck!

Thanks dillagaf, I guess they started eliminating the module earlier than I thought, since mine is a 2000. I have 2 repair books for this engine, one didn't mention anything about an alarm check, and the other told me to test it by turning the key to ON. I also found an error in a wiring diagram. One of the books showed wires that had the label colors accidently flopped. Kinda scary. I think I better pick up the Original Mercury repair manual.
