I read that as removing the lower unit and checking from the copper tube upward. By filling the inlet hose and seeing how fast it drains will tell you a lot

Well i had tried the filling by removing hoses and backflushed while watching the outdrive and the water flow was pretty slow. I decided to sh** can the lower unit and got another one with a cracked cavitation plate for $100 and case of beer. Slapped it in place and had water coming out in less than 30 seconds. There had to be a suction leak under the base of that water pump on the exhaust exit side. I guess ill be testing my tig welding skills or selling 2 sets of outdrive gears and buying another lower unit! Lol
