Should have seen the look on my sister’s face when the 13 and 15 yro nephews returned home with stories of uncle Dingbat teaching them how to operate a chain saw….lol
I think I was climbing trees with a chainsaw when I was younger than that. We used wood heat and dad would pay us $20 a pickup load. Sometimes the best firewood was in a live tree especially when the stuff on the ground was frozen to the ground. I think he had us using a Poulan with a 12” bar. No PPE.

Fast forward 30 or so years and I was working as a tree trimmer being forced to wear hard hat and saw chaps along with a harness if off the ground. Made it a lot harder to work.

You would need to know my sister and the boys to appreciate the joke.
Urban types…..oldest was 16 before he was allowed to operate the extension cord powered lawn mower.

Know where you’re coming from.

Worked structural steel for a few years.
Railings on scaffolds? Tie off harness, what is that….lol

Having said that, I’ve worked heavy industry the past 40 years. Hard hats, fire resistant jackets and metatarsal boots are mandatory.

Hard hat has saved me from serious injury twice but I really need to get a pair of saw chaps. Would have done some serious damage to my leg had the chain not gotten tangled up and stalled by my insulted Carhartt and jeans. Ended up with a flesh wound as a lesson I’ve still not taken action on
