OK here it goes I have 1992 OMC Cobra 3.0 liter. This summer I blew the head gasket, luckily it was in a place where I did not get any H2O in the motor. After I got it fixed I noticed a noise when I would get above 3800 to 4000 rpms. It is definitely in the engine compartment? I dont know maybe it was there before but I did not notice it, but now I do. The noise is definitely related to engine rpms b/c if I drop rpm it goes away. Any suggestions or if you guys need more info let me know. Thanks

Thats hard to describe maybe a clicking or tatting noise. Defintely not loud or clanking. You do have to be listening for it. But you can hear it. May be a ticking noise?

Who did the head gasket replacement? Sounds like they didnt get the valves adjusted right if it has done it since you had it repaired!

If the head gasket was replaced, then the push rods, springs, and rocker arms had to have come out. While putting everything together again, the valve lash would need to have been adjusted. It sounds like there may be a little too much slack between one of the push rods and its rocker arm, which is very easy to fix. Adjusting Valve Lash

It could be a slight exhaust leak from the exhuast gasket.

Believe I'd start where Mercrewser thinks... Make sure all the bolts that hold the manifold to the head are tight..
