Re: Noise reduction
Just a question, but have you tried running the engine without it? I removed the foam on my 85hp for the same reason and was planning on replacing it with something else but when I ran it out on the lake without the foam it didn't really seem that much noisier to me. It wasn't even loud enough to bother my wife or my 1 year old daughter either, so I'm not going to even worry about it. If I had to replace it though, I was going to use some leaded vinyl from the Boeing surplus rather than foam. I used it on a 77 vw rabbit that I had turbo charged to reduce the noise inside the car from the turbo spooling up and it worked fantastic. Way better than the dyno-mat that is used to insulate cars for road noise. Dyno-mat works well too, but if one has better options why not use them, right?
