Hi folks, just thought i would share this with you. I was incredulous. I am in the process of trying to resurect a boat that has been sitting for 2+ years. Needless to say every other bolt i tried taking off strips out. (i am using pb blaster but..)Drilled out 2 so far, but i get to jacking with the broken trim pump. Its a R drive w/a Oildyne metal resevoir. The plastic manual release falls apart in my fingers. I remove the pump to put it on a bench to put a replacement in. Drilled a small hole into the center of the PLASTIC screw and lightly tapped a ace hw bought easy out in. Proceded to break a hardened steel easy out in a plastic control valve.
Old boats s***.

replacement part nla. did find one though.

Old boats s***.

I've been saying that for years. People that buy old boats and think they got a deal are ............. sorry, can't say that as a moderator.

I've said it many times. The most expensive boat you can own is a free boat.

They are old. Cars are different, old junk boats are just old junk. Sure, you can fix them up, for a few grand in parts, but it also may take 2 or 3 years worth of labor on weekends, after work and during the boating season, also the camping, and fishing and having fun with the family season. So yeah, it's very costly to fix up old boats.

I love my 32 year old boat, she's awesome and nicer than many 10 year old boats, unrestored as well...

And on a few isolated occasions, people get lucky, and I bet you didn't get it for free or "Almost nothing". Remember every rule has it's exceptions.

Yes, it was a 1 owner boat taken care of very nicely by an owner that knew what he was doing.
It was a good deal, but certainly not free.
