not getting enough fuel

I just bought this boat it has a 1976 merc 150hp I cruised around lake twice a died. there is no fuel comming out of the fuel pump. I pulled fuel line off at carbs and cranked engine there is no pressure at all coming from pump. When I squeeze the ball there is lots of fuel. Could this be crank seals?

.<br /><br />First off, check to make sure the tank is vented, and the vent is unobstructed.<br /><br />After pumping the primer bulb, and then running the engine, does the bulb stay somewhat firm, or does it go flat?<br /><br />If it goes flat/soft, replace the fuel line and bulb.<br /><br />Next to be fixed is the fuel pump. Cheap, you can buy a rebuild kit for under $15 for most engines.<br /><br />Oh, in case you don't know, these fuel pumps are not like automotive types that generate 30-70 psi of pressure. Most non efi outboard fuel pumps produce something like 5 psi.

I have replaced the ball, but not for this problem just because it leaked. The engine starts and runs on fast idle lever ok but stalls at idle. if I put it in gear it run at troll but as soon as you throttle it immeadiatly dies. If I push throttle plates open it dies immediatly. There is plenty of fuel coming out of ball, my freind said he pumped ball as I tryed to throttle and it made no differance. Can I pull off one of the lines to the pump and feel any push or suchion? sorry about the spelling

Also about the vent, I pressurized the tank and there was air coming out the vent. re: built in tank

From your description, it's pretty obvoius. Your fuel pump needs attention.
